We welcome film makers Dorian Weinzimmer and Brant McCrea to the show to first help us remember some of the cities across pop culture who have met their demise in this weeks Retro Roundtable. We’ve watched for years as cinema has destroyed some of the largest cities around the world, and even some places that only exist in fiction. Come see if we name the first city to come to your mind!

Then we turn our attention over to Dorian and Brant to talk about their film, Chicago Rot. After years of rotting in Joliet, Les, a wrongfully imprisoned street legend known as “The Ghoul,” is released into a mad search through Chicago’s back alleys for the man who slaughtered his mother and robbed him of his soul.
Aided by enigmatic benefactors, he must delve beneath the city into a modern labyrinth of gutters whose tendrils have grown deep while he was gone.

What unfolds is a desperate tale of brute force tragedy set in the supernatural underworld of Chicago, where heroes are reduced to horror-shows, villains dream of their own demise, and good and evil prove to be antiquated concepts.

This is a movie like non other and provides a truly original experience. Be sure to check out the film at ChicagoRot.com!

Canned Air #219 Star Wars & Muppet Encores: An Interview with Mike Quinn

[iframe style=”border:none” src=”//html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/6117486/height/100/width/480/thumbnail/no/render-playlist/no/theme/legacy/tdest_id/316455″ height=”100″ width=”480″ scrolling=”no” allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen]

We are joined by pop culture royalty this week as we welcome actor and puppeteer Mike Quinn to the show! Though Mike is best known for his portrayal of Nien Nunb in the Star Wars films, his work can also be seen in The Muppets, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Toy Story 2, Jurassic Park 3, and many other films. We talk with Mike about how he started working with puppets, how he came to work with Jim Henson and the Muppets, and his mark on the Star Wars movies.

Having done CG work on Attack of the Clones, bringing to life many of the puppets in Return of the Jedi, and reprising Nien Nunb in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, you would be hard pressed to find anyone else who can give a more in-depth look at what happens behind the scenes on a Star Wars film. A must listen for any fan!

Welcome back to another satisfying episode of your friendly neighborhood podcast! We welcome our first in-studio guest to the show this week, John Orlando of PVDcast.com. We start the show talking about our favorite Christmas movies and specials in the Retro Roundtable. This list isn’t going to sing praises to the same old movies everyone talks about. No, we list some of the most unconventional and rarely seen movies and specials. From He-man, The Simpsons, to a man with scissor hands, we show you how to have a holiday movie night the right way, the Canned Air way!

Then we talk with John Orlando about his show, PVDcast! We welcome DaiQuan Cain to the show this week as we first talk about and celebrate the greatness that Harrison Ford is! He’s stared in some of the best movies ever, brought to life Han Solo, and walked away from 2 plain crashes. If that doesn’t constitute a badass, then I don’t want to know what does.

We then talk with DaiQuan about his Kickstarter running for his comic The Silent Descendants, running on Kickstarter until January 6th. Following a hometown tragedy, a grieving family and their friends seek vigilante justice after several of them gain mystical abilities.

Canned Air #213 Star Wars: Return of the Nerd with James Rolfe, The Angry Video Game Nerd!

[iframe style=”border:none” src=”//html5-player.libsyn.com/embed/episode/id/5973502/height/100/width/480/thumbnail/no/render-playlist/no/theme/legacy/tdest_id/316455″ height=”100″ width=”480″ scrolling=”no” allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen]

We welcome James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd) back to the show this week to help us ring in the Star Wars holiday season by talking all things Star Wars!

To bring some balance to the opinions of the first six Star Wars movies, we first take a look at the prequel trilogy and find the good things to emerge from them. Despite the overwhelming amount of criticism they receive, they answer the many questions unaddressed by the original trilogy.

We then take a look at the original trilogy to find some of the flaws overlooked, or ignored, by Star Wars fans over the years. As perfect as those movies are, they still have the moments that make some of us cringe. I mean, Chewie yelling a Tarzan call? Come on!

Then we discuss our opinions of what we are expecting from the next Star Wars installment, The Last Jedi. With The Force Awakens having echoed A New Hope so much, we take a look at The Empire Strikes Back for predictions of what to expect.

So throw in some headphones, grab your lightsaber, and swing it wildly around the room as we direct the greatest sci-fi adventure of all time, STAR WARS!!!
